Lights Out for Windsor Light Music Theatre’s 2020 Season – however, the Shows Must Go On! (Click for Media Release)

For over 72 years, the Windsor Light Music Theatre (WLMT) organization has been lighting up the local theatre scene with two full-scale musicals each year. Each musical production engages over 100 volunteers who share their time and talents, allowing them to showcase their skills on-stage, off stage and under the stage.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic is unfortunately preventing WLMT from producing a main stage musical for the 2020 Season, backstage the WLMT Board of Directors is working tirelessly to come back strong with an exciting Season in 2021. This new Season will continue the excellence, spirit and energy that exemplifies WLMT and its productions, while also incorporating new safety and health procedures.

The WLMT Board of Directors looks forward to unveiling the 2021 Season.  Windsor Light is eager to return to the St. Clair Centre for the Arts with the “Broadway-calibre” productions they are known for in Windsor-Essex County. We look forward to welcoming all of our volunteers, patrons, sponsors, and it goes without saying, our loyal audience back to the theatre when the curtain rises again in 2021.

Recent events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic have created an unprecedented situation for theatre communities worldwide. As a result, in response to Federal and Provincial health authorities and for the safety of all our patrons, members, and staff, the Windsor Light Music Theatre Board of Directors has made several difficult decisions to do our part and reduce the potential spread.

After extremely careful deliberation, we, the Board of Directors regretfully announce the CANCELLATION of the upcoming productions of Beauty and the Beast Jr, originally scheduled for April 2020 and Chicago, planned for May 2020.

As a reminder, our Main Office remains closed to the public, however, Darren, the Managing Director, is still available by phone or email during our regular business hours. Much like all of you, the Board of Directors will continue to monitor the situation closely over the coming weeks and months to determine when we will be able to reopen.

  1. If you purchased tickets for Beauty and the Beast Jr or had preferred tickets for Chicago that were purchased through the Windsor Light Music Theatre Box Office:

    a. If your payment was Debit or Credit, you will be refunded back onto the same card that you made your payment with.

    b. If you paid by cash or cheque, you will receive a cheque refund sent to you in the mail

  2. If you purchased tickets for Chicago through The Chrysler Theatre Box Office, please call 519-252-6579 anytime Tuesday through Thursday from 11am-6pm or Friday through Saturday from 11am - 8pm.

All WLMT Preferred Tickets Holders/ Sponsors:
In the coming days our office staff will be reaching out to you regarding your options for all Chicago tickets paid for in advance, and sponsorship package agreements.

Again, out of an abundance of caution, WLMT is profoundly disappointed that we won’t be able to bring these fantastic productions to fruition. To the cast, crew, and creative teams, we thank you for all your time, dedication, hard work, love and passion you put in to bringing these stories to life. We understand how deeply upsetting this is for all of you, but know that we cherish every moment we had together, creating memories held onto for years to come.

To our faithful audience members, sponsors and donors, we thank you for your patience and understanding. When the time is right we look forward to seeing you back, supporting artists and local theatre as we continue to "bring Broadway" to you!

With your well-being at heart,
- Board of Directors
