WLMT Players

The Award winning Windsor Light Music Theatre Players was founded with the intent of promoting workshop productions to provide an opportunity for training in the dramatic arts.

In 1965 Marie Simpson lead these workshops which eventually laid the path to The Players first production "Come Blow Your Horn" in 1969, directed by Bill Premin.

The first workshops were produced in-house, and shows subsequently were performed at the Teacher's College Theatre, Walkerville Collegiate Theatre, and the Capital Theatre with the most recent workshops held the Windsor Theatre Festival tent in Dieppe Park.

Other memorable productions have included "Death Of A Salesman" "The Odd Couple", "Mr. Roberts", and "Steel Magnolias".

At the 1981 Western Ontario Drama Festival The Players received the honour of Best Play for "Detective Story" and Player Jean Charley won for best supporting actress in "Blythe Spirit".

Following a hiatus between 1993-2001, the Players went on to produced Brighton Beach Memoirs (2001), Forever Plaid (2003), Swingtime Canteen (2004) and Secrets Every Smart Traveller Should Know (2005).
